On Thursday, July 19th, 2018, first and second period Marine Science classes went on a field trip to Plymouth, to board a Captain John and Son’s Whale Watch excursion. After being just under half an hour late, they boarded the boat that was about to leave. When they left the harbor, the boat went full speed to get to the whale area.
About an hour later, the boat came to a stop, as a whale was spotted. The boat had stopped parallel to the waves, which caused it to roll back and forth profusely. Many of the students began feeling the effects of seasickness, and grabbed bags, held on to the rails, and took naps. Over the two hours with the whales, there were 15 different whales spotted, and many of them approached the boat. At about 1:30 pm, the boat made its way back to the harbor. The dizzy students walked back to the bus, grateful for solid ground. Then, the bus drove them back to the Duffy Academic Center, and another PCC field trip was in the books.
