"YES, AND" IMPROV SHOW WOWS PCC
by Zayne Morrison and James Molito
Last night marked the end of weeks of practice and preparation for the Improv show. The Improv students gathered in unison ready to show PCC 2019 what they are made of. Students clustered around them in the Welcome Center auditorium, excited for what was to come next. Students and parents alike were ecstatic to see students perform in the Improv show headed up by the lovely hosts Colin and Lily. After a short introduction, Game Host Sage called a hall meeting for the "Real Blue Floor" to play the game "Remote Control." How the game works is there are two people (Mo and Olivia) controlling the TV. Then the show of the controller's choice is put on by three other actors (in this case, Jacob, Devon and Scarlett.) The controller can decide the channel or whether to pause, fast forward, or reverse the show. During the game one of the shows was the Uber Eats channel.
As Remote Control wrapped "Bottom Bruh" took the stage with "Party Guests" hosted by Derek C. During "Brady's Bar Mitzvah" some of the guests included acclaimed artist Bob Ross (played by Lily) a cotton-headed ninny muggins, Buddy the Elf (Derek H) and Mr. Rego's best friend, Elmo (Andy). After some detective work, Brady finally figured out who his guests were. As that scene ended, another began, with "Director's Cut" coming in. Hostess Olivia then reeled in the first group, Mayofish. The first director Brady, played puppet master as Hugo and Damon joined the College Academy fishing club, as they caught a wild PCCer (Cole) in the lake. Director Brady encouraged the College Academy students to assert their dominance as the better camp.
Mo was next up in the director's seat as the scene of Kim Kardashian losing her best friend's diamond earrings in the lake. Devon portrayed Kim Kardashian beautifully. Ryan played the poor lost earring who then dissed Kim about her plastic surgery. Laura, playing Kim's sister, was struck by the tension between Kim and her earring. Director Mo urged the actors to show more emotion for an Oscar-worthy performance. As the lights dimmed on that beach scene, Survivor came into the light. Hostess Laura called up the group "Boy and Girl" to perform as aliens in a skit about Area 51. Laura then called out one of the participants and then did the same thing one by one each round, leaving Sage to perform the skit all by herself.. Although the group's act was over, the audience did not cry over spilled milk, because the next group was "Sad Milk." This group pursued an odd theme about Kanye West carrying a bad conspicuously labeled "Children."
The next game is called "Co-Worker;" the two enthusiastic hosts were Derek H. and Cole. In the game, a co-worker was late and the other co-worker has to try and cover for the late one in front of their boss.
The last game of the night was "Tap-Out" with host Hugo. The groups were "The Bread Fan Club" (Damon, Cole, and Scarlett) and "Kirberby" (Mo, Andy, and Gabe) switching out at the hosts' whims. The audience soon joined in the fun with several students going to play the game. Thank you to Ms. Cook the Improv teacher, and Ms. Matthews the proctor-intern as well as the PCC 2019 Improv class for their hard work and a great night.
