"Not All Heroes Wear Capes, Some Wear Lanyards!"
By Sophie Nelson
On the first day of PCC your proctor gives you so many goodies, including your lanyard! Your lanyard is required whenever you leave your room, and it is used for safety, style, and it’s a super cool souvenir. This year at PCC 2018, the color for student lanyards are red and white, and the lanyards for the proctors are blue and white.
The most important reason for lanyards is safety. Our lanyards are our identification to the PCC 2018 staff. If a student forgets their lanyard, they have to walk back to their dorm with a proctor to get it. Personally, I would hate to trek back to Boland, so this helps students remember their lanyards. You may think that the lanyards are uncomfortable, but you get used to them after a few days.
Along with safety, lanyards are also very stylish. You get your name tag as soon as you get your lanyard on the first day. This year the tags are aqua, and last year they were gold. As the weeks go on, PCC gives you more tags to your lanyard. The next item you attach to your lanyard is the key to your room. The following few items are different for everyone, depending on clubs, activities, and classes. Some classes that give out tags are Forensic Science, Improve with Improv, and possibly Journalism. Members of SAG also get SAG tags to show you are in the club. Finally, some halls have made cute name tags as a hall party.
A new addition to lanyards is the soundwave tag. Members of SAG got a kindness tag to pass on to other students when doing something nice. The front has a record on it and the back has a rhyming poem on it. The tags are making their way around PCC 2018, passing kindness and helping students find new friends!
The last tag that PCCers got was the Roads tag. It is a tag where the back has the lyrics of the song “Where the Roads Come Together”. This tag is meaningful to many students and proctors, and touches everyone at PCC.
These lanyards are home to many tags and decorations, and they are a super fun souvenir to bring home at the end of PCC 2018!
