PCC FLIPS FOR BMX BIKERS

By Jenna Carson

Tuesday, July 25, 2017 BMX Bikers rolled onto campus to put on a mind-blowing performance for Core Course. They first introduced themselves; Kace, who was twenty years old, went up first. He did a few tricks to get the show started, then allowed the second biker to go. Josh, twenty-one, was next on the ramp. Following the lead of Kace, he too started off with a few simple BMX tricks.

But the show began to get intense. The ‘host’ asked for a few audience members to come up and help with a couple of the stunts. The first one involved four of the volunteers to lie in a line on their stomachs. Kace was then told to jump over them on his bike. The first few times, he messed around and got off the bike or stopped last minute; but the last time he attempted, he wasn’t screwing around. Hearts stopped, breaths hitched; the moment of truth. Would he make it?

Thank goodness he did. A scream from one of the participants, Ms. Donahue, scared the students for a second, but after they realized all was okay, they went back to paying attention to the bikers. After a few flips and skids on the pavement, they asked again for two volunteers from the audience. They were asked to sit on the top of the ramp shoulder to shoulder and not to move a muscle. The air was thick with tension, and the stakes were high. What was happening? Josh began riding towards the ramp, gaining speed the closer he got. Mr. Cavagnaro -one of the participants- took out his phone, ready to record what was about to happen. Josh lifted into the air and flipped on his bike right between both Mr. Cavagnaro and Ms. Brown. Then, because Ms. Brown flinched and moved away, he had to do it again.

After the audience was thanked, the two bikers finished off the act with one last trick. Both rode up the ramp, one after the other, and did flips and jumps, stunning the audience.

All in all, the performance was great and definitely worth the wait.
