Wednesday the 26th of July, the PCC Alumni Organization hosted the very first Alumni Day in PCC history. All people that have participated in the PCC summer program were welcome to attend the PCC Alumni Day at Stonehill college. Tickets for the PCC Alumni Day were $20 dollars. The money raised by the Alumni Organization goes to scholarships for kids who want to go to PCC. This way anyone can go to PCC and everybody gets a chance to enjoy a magical summer.
The Alumni Day was a nice day to see your old PCC friends again. First years didn’t really know any alumni because it was mostly friends of second years that came. My mom is an alumni so she came and caught up with some of her PCC best friends. So Alumni Day was pretty cool because there were people from just one or two years ago but also from 30 years ago. Many proctors also had PCC friends come to visit the PCC alumni day. Ms. Brainard for example met some of her friends during Rec. She was super excited and advertised a lot for the Alumni Day. She saw two friends from her first year, one from her first and second, Ms. Connell’s brother, and many more. Ms. Brainard had tons of friends come and visit the PCC Alumni Day, including her little sister, who’s also an alumni! Things alumni’s and non-alumni’s talked about were like how the program had changed, and Ms. Brainard’s friends wanted to know all about her being a proctor. But mostly many of them just reminisced.
The PCC alumni came around 2:30 pm for Rec. After Rec they had dinner in a separate dining hall because everybody was afraid that it wasn’t going to fit. We as PCC students had to eat and leave as soon as possible, and really the dining hall in my eyes was pretty empty so the alumni could have fit in our normal dining hall since we had to eat and leave anyway. But eating fast and leaving early comes with its benefits: more Quad-time! The alumni didn’t join us for Quad-time because they went to an awesome trivia game. But they came back to spend more time with us at Core Course. Hyannis Sound was a popular Core Course some alumni remembered from their own years at PCC.
Alumni Day was a huge success. Alumni Day sold out and raised about $1500 dollars which is almost a full scholarship.
