Walking That Country Road with PCC 2019

by Fay Heffernan & Zayn Morrison

PCC 2019 students and proctors experienced yet another unforgettable night at the widely-acclaimed Hoedown Dance. The proctors started the event off with a fashion show, giving the students ideas for next week's dance. Students cheered as the PCC players came out on stage, performing many of PCC's traditional skits. These included "Is it time yet?", "The Cake Skit", "The Doctor's Office", and "Cowboy Competition." After the PCC players, proctors led some of the students in the evening's game shows. Halls went head-to-head in a corn-shucking contest, while other students competed in Pin the Tail on the Donkey and in a Toy Horse race. To finish off these opening acts, Mr. Leonard and Ms. Carlson announced the winners of the Hoedown costume contest. The group costume award was granted to the Country Roads. Lillian Martin took the cake as she won the student costume award, dressed as a cow. Ms. Gray won the costume award for the proctors. Congratulations, y'all!

With that, the students dispersed, dancing with their friends to some of their favorite western classics. Mr. Gallagher once again wowed the crowd with his dancing skills to the song "Old Town Road." Another highlight of the dance was when the students joined hands to the song "Country Roads." It wasn't long before they played the PCC 2019 theme song, the students and staff all dancing along. The night came to a close with the PCC classic songs and dances, including "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and "American Pie." Students linked arms and sang their hearts out to finish the Hoedown Dance.
We'll see y'all next week for the School Spirit Dance. Yee-haw!
