MARTIAL ARTS MADNESS

As we become teenagers we get more privileges like driving and a later curfew. These things can be great but they come with a lot of risks. The PCC students learned about self defense from Premiere Martial Arts and about how to be safe in certain circumstances as they get older.
The night started off with Premier Martial Arts (PMA) sharing what they do and why they were here. Their mission was for us to properly know how to be safer, how to make good decisions, and if it comes to it how to assess a problematic situation. Some scenarios could be an attack, a break-in, or a kidnapping.
Following their presentation, PCC got to its feet and started some exciting activities. To learn how to protect ourselves, students were taught palm strikes and how to use one's elbows as weapons as compared to fists. They practiced these new skills by using palm strikes on their neighbors to get them off their shoulder. These activities made many people feel safer and more protected. Ms. Collins, a proctor at PCC, felt that it "was very useful and a good way to teach people how to protect themselves." Beth Pennington, a third-year student, added that "it provided good awareness and made me think a lot more about safety."
