ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, LIP-SYNC!
by Abigail Ricker and Zayn Morrison
Last Wednesday night was the annual PCC Lip Sync. Each year, select groups of students get to dance and lip sync away to their favorite song. Like every summer, there is a a theme for the show; this year it was Mario. The night began with Ms. Gray as Mario, Ms. Coburn as Luigi, Mr. Joseph as Toad, and Ms. Carlson as Princess Peach, all skipping out on stage to have a picnic. They then introduced the first act: Tess, Marissa, and Riley performing "Can't Stop Singing" from Teen Beach movie! They wowed the audience with amazing props and elaborate dance moves. As the song came to an end, students cheered as Mario and his friends came back out. To our surprise, Mr. Leonard as Walawigi and Ms. Martin as Bowser joined in, kidnapping Princess Peach!
Then it was time for the next act. The students Sage and Cali danced to "Me!" by Taylor Swift and Brendan Urie. Both girls were rocking matching outfits. Then the Mario skit returned to the stage with Peach locked in a tower by Waluwigi and Bowser. Then act three came on with a roar, as Beth Squared and Catrina lip-synched to "What Time Is It?" from High School Musical 2. With their synchronized dance moves they blew the audience away.
Mario and his friends unsuccessfully continued their search for Princess Peach before the next act, "Pump Daddy" took to the stage. Also known as Javon, PD performed "Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars. The audience was so impressed with his lip-synching skills that he received a standing ovation. Princess Peach yelled for help from "Billie and the Regos," who consisted of Hannah, Hugo, and Derek. They performed "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish. The dance was very elaborate with a twist of fun! Later Peach said that she dreamed that someone would save her, and out came "The Dream Team." The song "D.R.E.A.M." by Jojo Siwa was performed by Grace, Emilee, Shannon, and Mia. With each team member wearing Jojo Siwa's signarure look, they enthusiastically danced their bows off! Lastly, there was a battle between Mario's group and the villains. It ultimately ended with Mario being the champion! The last act was the "Champs" (Derek, Shea, and Madison.) Students in the audience stood up for the team as if it was the National Anthem. Thank you to all the students that participated in the show!
