LAD IN A BATTLE

On Wednesday, July 10, 2019 PCC students and staff gathered in the Welcome Center for the third Core Course of Week 2. After a brief performance from the PCC players, James Orrigo, aka Lad in a Battle, took the stage. He started off with iconic song "Boat Shoe" which made everyone in the room explode with laughter. Continuing with his presentation, James discussed moving topics that summoned tears to the eyes. He told stories about helping others and being the best you can be. James was inspired by his mother to work with children battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Working with the children, James helps them create songs and music videos that celebrate their lives. He showed videos made with some of the children he has worked with, including youngsters Wyatt and Katherine. Orrigo then asked students and proctors to close their eyes and think about all the people who love them and who they love as he sang a song written for and about his mother.
To wrap up the night, James brought two students, Tess and Gabe, up on stage to create an unforgettable song about air-conditioners and frogs. After Tess and Gabe left the stage, proctors hopped up to welcome James into the PCC family by giving them a PCC 2019 t-shirt.
