OUT OF THE LIGHT AND INTO THE LITTERBOX

Dr. Seuss had many of his classic children's books adapted into beloved animated films. This one in particular is not one of them. Which one, you might ask? The live-action tribute to his most notorious character, The Cat in the Hat.
"It's like someone took LSD and read the book," first year James Molito offered on the topic of the film. Other quotes on record include "it looks like what I see in my nightmares" and "it's like the Ninja Turtles backstory...but with a cat!" according to Makayla Sturgeon and Zayn Morrison. These quotes are no surprise given the portrayal of the character by actor Mike Myers that seems to leave audiences unsettled.
Mike Myers has long been known for gifting us with some of our favorite movies like "Shrek" and the "Austin Powers" films. However this movie is a gift that we want the receipt for.
The film is packed with scenes that cause the viewers to feel mildly uncomfortable. Among the worst is the "Kupcake-inator" scene. The sequence consists of two versions of the cat: one is a Martha Stewart-like character, while the second has the mixed persona of Shrek, a serial killer, and a dash of Austin Powers. This second cat tries to demonstrate his machine while making disturbing remarks to the first. These comments are odd for a children's film, like "I'll get you and it'll look like a bloody accident," and "I mean it, I will end you," as well as "you're ugly just like your mom."
Honestly, we've been blaming technology for all the issues in today's younger generations, but why is no one pointing fingers at this movie? We questioned teens about what they remembered and got comments like "it's terrifying! I don't want to see it again!"
The movie as a whole is one large fever dream. It was so scarring that no more live action adaptations of Seuss books will be made ever again. The movie contains material so utterly disturbing that it's pretty much nightmare fuel. Dr. Seuss's wife made a statement saying that she hopes for the day she can say, "I got my cat out of the litter box."
