Linking People, Sparking Minds

By Rebecca Bryson

On week two and three, PCC gets new members of the family. These are the weeks that the Boston Wise students come. This gives campers a chance to meet new people from very different places and learn about different cultures.

This is an even better experience for Boston Wise students who get to travel away from their home country and indulge themselves in a whole new culture for four to five weeks. I have a roommate who is here because of Boston Wise and I learn stuff about her and her country every day. She has summer work and she taught me some of the math she does. Also, after every weekend, she tells us what they do. One of the weekends they went to the science museum and shopping at the Braintree mall. My roommate, Rainnia, loves American food and just recently tried her first Oreo and it was really cool and funny to watch.

Out of all of the Boston Wise students I’ve interviewed, they all say that the best part about PCC is making all sorts of new, foreign friends, and of course, the snacks! I imagine it’s hard to communicate, and I know my friends from the organization miss their family, but everyone that I have talked to have said that this was a great opportunity to travel. I asked my roommate Rainnia how she liked this camp and she said, “I love it and I would not change a thing!”.

PCC is a great place to meet people from all over Massachusetts, and you can also meet people from China and the Netherlands. Boston Wise is an amazing program that benefits everyone involved.
