HYANNIS SOUND AND PCC MAKE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC TOGETHER

by Shaeleigh Madan

Make some noise because last night’s core course was the a Capella group Hyannis Sound! All 350 of us gathered in the Merkett Gym to witness some incredible singing done by the all male group. Hyannis Sound is from Cape Cod, however the members of the group are from all different places, some are even out of state.

The night started off like any other core course; everyone filing into the gym waiting to see what is going to be their entertainment for the next two hours. When Hyannis Sound came onto the center of the floor, I’m pretty sure that everyone was surprised to see an all male a Capella group performing. They sang about twelve songs; one of the songs(which was my favorite song) was “Footloose”. At the end of each song, they took turns one at a time giving the audience description about themselves and what they have done over the years.

There were two or three times they had people from the audience do activities with them, such as singing and clapping with the group and playing knockout. I liked everyone in the group very much and I was impressed with how high some of them could sing. Their second to last song was originally sang by three women. Therefore, when they sang it, it was unbelievable because they had to sing so high that they could probably have cracked glass. Even though I’m a girl, I don’t know if I could ever sing as high as those three men sang that song.

At the very end of the presentation, all of them got into a semi-circle and started singing an Irish blessing. Everyone loved it so much. I saw multiply people who started crying during them singing, and I would have started crying as well, but I’m not an emotional person so when I do cry it’s about stuff that is very meaningful to me. I just wanted to thank Hyannis Sound (even though they most likely will never see this and it is probably unnecessary), for being so kind to all of us and giving us (hopefully) one of your best performances. If you are at home, school, a friends house, wherever you are right this moment while you are reading this article, please give Hyannis Sound a big round of applause for coming and singing for us here at PCC.
