BRAIN SHOW RETURNS FOR ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL EVENING

by Young Voices Staff

On Tuesday, July 18th, The Brain Show returned to PCC on full blast. A traveling game show where participants are asked to answer pop culture trivia questions, it was a extraordinarily fun time for contestants and spectators alike.

The host came onto the gym floor and explained the rules of the game. Students interested in playing the game raised their hands and proctors handed them a numbered card, each number corresponding to a group. There were five groups of five to start the game. They would repeat this process several times so that many students were given the chance to step up and show what they know.

Some of the categories of trivia questions included “Name that Song”, “Name the Author,” and “Name the Movie.” The host would play a clip of music or film and teams would buzz in at their podiums if they thought they knew the answer.

Although this seems similar to many game shows and trivia contests, there was a twist. The host would teach the contestants a dance move and when they guessed the right answer, they needed to correctly perform the dance if they wanted the points. This new twist made it more fun for the contestants, but also for the audience, who were encouraged to dance along.

It is easy to see why the Brain Show is a perennial favorite each summer at PCC. With its combination of trivia and silliness, the game show made for an exciting and intriguing core course.
